Mormon Women for Ethical Government
Founded in 2017, Mormon Women for Ethical Government (MWEG) have a state mission statement “To inspire women of faith to be ambassadors of peace who transcend partisanship and courageously advocate for ethical government.” Their website discusses supporting and empowering women, or voters generally, to have respectful civic engagement in their communities. However the site makes no mention of an environmental agenda. Which is surprising considering over 25% of their funding comes from environmental groups. Mormon Women for Ethical Government (MWEG) is a 501(c)(4) ‘social welfare’ organization with an affiliated 501(c)(3) charitable organization called The MWEG Foundation. Their website does not go into detail about the different activities of each group. Learn more about their funding and advocacy efforts below.
OVERVIEW
The MWEG groups do not disclose funders. However, through publicly available data filed in other organizations’ 990 disclosures, we were able to discover some of their largest donors. This information, found below, makes clear that most MWEG funding is from out of state, and much of it from environmental organizations, including grants from Western Conservation Foundation and Western Conservation Action.
